Desktop Relocation Case Study

Situation:
Check clearing house company, merging two divisions into one new location with a combined total of 258 people. Equipment included 120 existing machines, 138 new Gateway computers, 36 desktop printers, 39 networked desktop printers. The move took place in three phases.
Problems:
The nature of the business required that the equipment was up and running within a 24 hour period. The new Gateway computers needed to be unboxed, loaded from a master ghost image file, and set up on the network. Existing equipment was not compatible with the new systems. The network was being changed from token ring to Ethernet so new network cards needed to be installed.
Solutions:
Technical Source was instrumental in determining what assistance was needed and provided technicians who were able to install the existing pcs, monitors and non-networked printers. They determined which machines needed additional memory and installed it. Our technicians installed 120 new network interface cards and configured them to the network settings. We also installed the print servers, network printers and the NT network fax server.
Our technicians then unboxed and assembled the new Gateways. We assisted in creating a standard workstation image to be distributed to the new systems. We then used Norton Ghost to clone the new systems and completed this portion by testing each machine.  We performed printer testing and network configuration to all systems. We assisted in troubleshooting network connections and punching down cables.
Our technicians completed all work originally requested, and assisted in more projects than was originally contracted for, thereby, assuring that all deadlines were met.  The client was very satisfied with our work.
